These healthy energy bites are made only with healthy real food ingredients and are refined sugar free! They make the perfect afternoon snack for a healthy energy boost.
This is literally the 3rd recipe for these kind of protein or energy bites I’ve tried. To be honest, I wasn’t a fan of the flavor of the first few tries. But, I got this recipe at a fun meeting with the ladies in my Farr West challenge group and fell in love. I just made one minor tweak to the chocolate ingredient and I am excited to share them with you!
They are so yummy and have quickly become a favorite afternoon snack for me and the kids. All you have to do is throw all of the ingredients in the blender!
Whatever you do, don’t roll most of the dough into weirdly dry bites only to to realize you forgot to add the honey and vanilla. You’ll be super sad when you have to remix and start over. Not that I would know. 😉

These healthy energy bites are made only with healthy real food ingredients and are refined sugar free! They make the perfect afternoon snack for a healthy energy boost.
Serves: 65 small bites
Ingredients
- 1 cup old fashioned oats
- ⅓ cup chia seeds
- ½ cup flax seeds
- ⅓ cup almonds
- 1.5 oz dark chocolate (70% cocoa or more)
- ½ cup natural peanut butter
- ⅓ cup honey
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- Grind oats, chia seeds, flax seeds, almonds, and dark chocolate in a blender until they have a flour like texture. I use and love my Blendtec blender.
- In a medium bowl or stand mixer, combine the wet and powdered ingredients. Mix well and then use a heaping 1 teaspoon measuring spoon to scoop out each serving and form into a ball. Forming the bites takes some time, so recruit older children, significant others, or roommates to help.
- Store uneaten bites in a sealed container in the refrigerator of up to a few weeks.

WrayLynn says
Is it possible to substitute unsweetened cocoa powder for the chocolate?
Tiffany says
It seems like that would work just fine WrayLynn. The only thing you may need to do is increase your liquid just a little bit. Next time I make a batch I’ll give it a try and post the results.
Ashley says
Can you use PB2 instead of natural peanut butter in this?
Tiffany says
I’ve never tried this one with PB2. It would probably work, but you’d need more liquid to keep the same texture. If you try it definitely let us know how it goes!
