My Favorite Healthy Things {Blendtec Giveaway!!!}

March 5, 2014 by Tiffany 59 Comments

You know when you get so excited about something new that you feel the need to tell everyone about it and you end up sounding like a door-to-door salesman? Yep, that’s me. And, now you get to hear it to. 😉

Just for the record, I am not associated with any of these companies in any way. These really are just things I use and love as part of my quest for a healthy lifestyle.

So, here goes my sale’s pitch. And, make sure you head to the end of the post and enter the INCREDIBLE GIVEAWAY I’m part of with the awesome girls from  No Diets Allowed and Happy Food, Healthy Life. HINT: YOU COULD WIN A BLENDTEC!!

Blendtec Blender: You definitely need to enter to win the Blendtec in the giveaway below! I absolutely LOVE my Blendtec and use it at least twice a day. Of course I do my smoothies in there, but I also use it for nut butters, soups, dressings, and even for freshly grinding wheat. They aren’t cheap, but when you consider how many Walmart blenders you’d have to replace during the 8 year warranty, I think it is totally worth it. And, if you are a Costco shopper, they go on sale every few months so keep your eyes out for a good deal.

Polar HR Monitor: I have only had my {Polar FT4 Heart Rate Monitor} for a little over a month, but I already don’t know how I ever worked out without it! I am a numbers girl, so looking down throughout my workout to to see my heart rate or my calories burned is super motivating. And, it’s nice too to simply enter those calories burned into MyFitnessPal and know it is a more accurate number. I’ve been asked before if the chest strap is uncomfortable and, to be honest, I don’t even notice it. I put it right under my bra-line, so it feels the same as always. I guess that means that as girls, we are already used to being a little bit uncomfortable.

Workout DVD’s: My niece is living in our exercise room right now, so I joined the local gym, but I’ve mentioned before that I have a pretty extensive workout DVD collection. It just doesn’t get much easier than putting in a disk. Some of my favorites include {Jillian Michaels}, Turbo Jam, and my old-school Pilates set.

Food Steamer: My steamer is a super old model that I inherited when my parents sold their house, but it still works great and is definitely one of the easiest ways to cook veggies. I love that I can throw some fresh or frozen veggies in there, set the timer, ignore it and have a healthy side dish cooked. Amazon even has some pretty cool two tired versions, like this one right {here}that look way prettier than my antique version.

Contigo Water Bottle: I am weirdly picky about my water bottles and I’ve discovered that I do so much better at getting in my water each day when I have one I love. I prefer to drink out of a straw, but with toddlers around my cup was constantly spilling. I recently found this {Contigo} water bottle at Target and it is my new favorite. It has a straw, but it also flips closed really easily. Plus, my toddlers can’t get it open and dump it all over the floor. I also love that it holds a full 24 ounces. All I have to do is drink 3 of them during the day and I have exceeded my intake goal.
Bountiful Baskets: This is another one that I have mentioned before, but still love. It is such a great way to get a variety of produce at a good price. I also absolutely love their whole grain breads. They have only simple, real-food ingredients and are only 50-60 calories per slice. I literally buy it 10 loaves at a time and put it in the freezer. Then I just pull one out when needed and it still tastes fresh and delicious.
Salad Spinner: This is definitely not a necessary kitchen appliance, but I love mine and use it anytime I wash up greens. Then I use what I need and store the extra in the spinner in the fridge. It seems like when I store it that way it stays fresh much longer, I’m guessing it’s because of the air-flow? Anyway, keeping cut and washed greens ready means I eat them far more often, which is definitely a good thing. It looks like they don’t make the one I have anymore, but {this} one on amazon is pretty close.

ENTER TO WIN SOME FAVORITE THINGS OF YOUR OWN!! GOOD LUCK!

    You already know I REALLY want a Blendtec!!!! Hoping I win!!! I also want to mention that I like steaming veggies, but since I have a really small kitchen 🙁 I try to keep my small appliances to a minimum. I’ve discovered steam bags (I think they’re with the ziplock bags.) at any grocery store. The idea is you throw them away after each use, but just like ziplock bags you can wash them and reuse them if you’re cheap like me. 🙂 Takes up a lot less space than a steamer!

    I am motivated to become healthier so I can be a positive role model for my baby daughter. I don’t want her to hear me griping about my body insecurities, thus I have to change my way of life and thinking. I am also motivated to become healthier so we can have another kiddo without me stressing a lot about my post baby body. And, because I feel FANTASTIC and it’s only been three days.

    I started losing weight and maintaining it almost two years ago. I’m still motivated to lose weight, just not until after the baby comes. So I guess I want to stay healthy to have a healthy baby and pregnancy, as well as to keep unnecessary weight gain at bay.
