I’ve mentioned before that pizza nights are a common occurrence at our house. We all love pizza and you know I am a firm believer in eating and enjoying the foods you love as part of a healthy diet, so this healthy family pizza night is perfect!
I put out bowls with all kinds of toppings and let each family member choose their own for either part of a pizza, or a small personal sized pizza. With tons of healthy vegetable topping choices, they all find more than one they like and I get to feel good about what they are eating…even on pizza night!
Healthy Family Pizza Night
Ingredients
- 100% Whole Wheat Pizza Crust
- Homemade or store bought sauce - look for one with 5g of sugar or less per serving. We like this Mario Batali Neopolitan Pizza Sauce that has a fantastic natural ingredient list and only 2g of sugar.
- Shredded Cheese
- Toppings: green and red peppers, onion, mushrooms, tomatoes, olives, spinach, ham, pineapple, pepperoni, etc.
Instructions
- Make homemade crust according to the recipe {here}.
- Preheat oven and pizza stone to 500 degrees F.
- Add a few tablespoons of sauce to each pizza crust and a thin layer of cheese.
- Add favorite toppings. Have children and guests help with this step! Finish with another thin layer of cheese.
- Bake on the preheated pizza stone or cookie sheet for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the bottom is golden and crispy.
- Enjoy!

Where do you find clean pizza sauce and clean pepperoni? It looks like you put olives on your pizza I know they are high in fat and in salt but are they still ok to eat? I am new to this clean eating I have two boys that have ADHD and are also on the spectrum for autism. While they can function in mainstream classes they still have difficulties. When we cut bad sugars out of their diets about two yrs ago they were better behaved. We got back to old habits so I thought I’d go all in and do everything this time all white stuff bad sugars go all whole wheat natural grains. I have a bread maker going to make our bread. My 6 yr old does not like the gluten free breads. Long story there. Do you have any bread recipes that I can follow? Unfortunately I live in TX and can’t shop at Joe’s. Our closest natural foods store only carries gluten free. Any help would be appreciated. Looking forward to starting this journey. We have pizza at least once a week by the way. That’s how much my boys love their pizza.

Brenda, Congrats and good luck with all your clean eating changes! For pizza sauce I either throw together my own (still perfecting the recipe for the blog) or grab a pasta sauce with a clean ingredient list. I get my pepperoni from the deli to avoid the nitrates and other preservatives (the brand I like is Boars Head). And, we do use olives. The fat in olives is a healthy one and I figure the sodium is okay since it is in small amounts on a pizza.
Have you checked out 100 Days of Real Food? She has fantastic recipes and an awesome bread recipe for a bread maker – http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/2011/08/17/recipe-honey-whole-wheat-sandwich-bread-for-bread-machine/
I hope that helps! Let me know if I can do anything else! I hope your boys love this crust recipe! 🙂
