I’ve told you this about me before, but I am definitely not perfect {see here if you don’t believe me}. I don’t always make everything from scratch, but I do love finding quick and easy ways to increase the healthy in our meals. These 5 Minute Homemade Breadcrumbs are exactly that. Making your own breadcrumbs sounds like something only Martha Stewart would do, but really, it only takes a few extra minutes to have these whole wheat breadcrumbs (minus all the added/artificial ingredients) for any recipe!
I’m not sure if you can call this a recipe, more like a few simple steps, but here you go. I hope you’ll give it a try next time you have a recipe that calls for breadcrumbs. You’ll feel all Martha Stewartish, your family will be so impressed, and you never have to tell anyone that it only took a few minutes. Yep, that’s how I roll. π
- 4 pieces of whole wheat bread
- That's all, but it feels weird to share a recipe with only one ingredient, so I'm filling the space just a bit. π
- Toast your bread in a toaster or toaster oven until dry, but not burned.
- Let cool for a few seconds.
- Put your dry bread in a blender or food processor until crumbled to desired consistency. I put mine in my Blendtec and blend on speed 9 for 20-30 seconds.
- That's it! 4 pieces of bread will make about 1 cup of breadcrumbs, depending on the size of your slices.

If you donβt have a blender, you can use the fine side of a grater.

Thanks for sharing! My recipe called for bread crumbs. Mid recipe I realize that I was out! These came out perfectly and they were so easy. I don’t think I’m going to bother buying bread crumbs ever again!
Thanks!
