Meet This Mormon {8 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me}

October 10, 2014 by Tiffany 3 Comments

I’ve said it before and I know I’ll say it again…my absolute favorite part about hosting Feel Great in 8 Challenges and about blogging is getting to know so many incredible people! The challenge groups are always full of amazing and inspiring people with incredible stories! I love that by the end of the 8 weeks we feel like friends, even if we’ve never met in person. And, on top of that, I’ve met some of the most incredible bloggers on this crazy journey.

One thing I’ve always tried to do here on the blog, is to share the real, most authentic version of myself with you. The girl who isn’t perfect, who makes more than her share of mistakes, and who is still working to improve just like you are.

So, today, along with some of my beautiful blogging friends, I’ll be sharing a little more about me with you! Drum roll please…

8 Things You Probably Don’t Know About Me!

1. I was a competitive figure skater and coach. I went ice skating when I was 8 years old and instantly fell in love. I was a full-on figure skater with fancy dresses, jumps, spins, shows and competitions all over the country for 10 years. Luckily I moved to Logan to go to USU the year the first ice rink was built in the valley and was able to pay my way through college coaching the cutest little skaters you’ve ever seen!

2. I taught 3rd grade and preschool for 8 years. I got my degree from USU in Elementary Education and taught 3rd grade in Cache County until our first baby was born. Then I taught preschool in our home for 5 years while my husband was in school. I loved teaching and definitely miss it!

3. I love to laugh. One of my favorite things to do is watch comedy T.V. or movies with my husband. I enjoy the occasional drama too, but my favorites are the ones that keep you laughing the entire time. This summer we watched all 9 seasons of How I Met Your Mother and laughed our guts out!

4. I’m a total nerd. I can quote just about every line in Ghostbusters and I laugh at old-school classic jokes. I was also ridiculously worried about my grades growing up.

5. I’m married to an eye doctor. My amazing husband worked so hard to get through lots of years of schooling and has now been an official doctor (Optometrist) for 3 years. I am so incredibly proud of him! If you live in Davis County and are looking for a great eye doctor go see Dr. Adam Rudd at Family Vision Care of Bountiful. I may be a little biased, but I think he is the best. 😉

6. I love to travel. In our life right now (i.e. littles and finances), this means little trips around Utah and maybe even to California, but our first trip after we were married was a month in Russia! One day we definitely want to travel all over the world.

7. I’m secretly shy and somehow also very social. I’ve always been shy and a little bit awkward in social situations. I worry that it comes across as stuck-up or rude, when I really just have a hard time starting conversations and getting to know people. Just be patient with me, I love parties and making new friends, it just takes me a minute to warm up.

8. I’m a Mormon. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a huge part of who I am. It shapes my relationship with God and my connection to my spirit. The restored Gospel of Jesus Christ brings so much peace and happiness to me and my family. It helps me be a better mom, wife and person and hopefully a better challenge host too. If you’re not a mormon, don’t worry, you are absolutely more than welcome to join the Feel Great in 8 Challenge! I would never push my beliefs on anyone, but if you are curious to know more about who we are as Mormons or what we believe, I am always willing to share.

Today is exciting for us Mormon’s because of the release of a movie called “Meet the Mormons.” This film is not meant to be an “in your face” – you must join our church film. It is simply designed and produced to uplift and inspire you through six stories of those of our faith who have followed promptings to follow Christ more fully in their lives.

To celebrate the film’s release, 65+ bloggers have teamed up to share our faith with you. We hope you take the opportunity to enjoy this film. We hope your hearts are made light as you feel the goodness that comes from following our Christ and Savior. All proceeds from the film will be donated to The American Red Cross. So not only will you be uplifted and inspired, your money will be going to an amazing charity!!

Each of these beautiful women below are also taking the opportunity today to tell you a little more about them. I hope as you click through and read the stories of these Mormons (Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints), you will feel uplifted and encouraged. Please be kind and considerate in your comments. It takes great bravery for us to open our hearts and our mouths to share with you such a tender and personal part of who we are. We share because we feel strongly the need to share the peace and the hope that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
