Can’t find a Hatchimal?

November 15, 2016 by Tiffany 21 Comments

Is your child asking for a Hatchimal {the HARDEST to find toy this year} and you CAN’T find one? Avoid Christmas morning tears or spending $300 on one toy with this free printable letter!

Is your child asking for a Hatchimal {the HARDEST to find toy this year} and you CAN'T find one? Avoid Christmas morning tears or spending $300 on one toy with this free printable letter! Merry Christmas!

So, you can’t find a Hatchimal? I’m right there with you!

First of all, I realize this post isn’t my usual healthy recipe or tip. But I know I’m not the only mom stuck in this position this year and I wanted to share my solution. Us parents have to stick together.

Since you’re reading this post, it’s safe to assume that like me you’ve been searching like a crazy person for a Hatchimal.

Or, I guess you could have clicked over here to try to figure out what a Hatchimal is. In that case, lucky you! 😉 You can see some more pictures and watch a video of what they are on Amazon right HERE. You’ll also notice, that while these toys normally cost around $45, they are selling on Amazon and everywhere else for as much as $300! Yikes!

So that leaves a whole bunch of us wondering what to do. Choice A) Spend your entire Christmas budget on one toy. Or B) Wake up to a disappointed child on Christmas morning.

And, of course my daughter is OBSESSED with this toy. Yes, she put other things on her list, but this is the one she tells everyone she is getting on Christmas morning. Yes, I know it wouldn’t be the end of the world if she didn’t get one. But, the thought of her tears on Christmas morning breaks my heart.

So, I’ve been wracking my brain for a third option. And I think I figured it out!

A letter from Santa!

I wrote this simple letter that will be arriving at our house directly from the North Pole in the next few weeks. The letter just lets her know that there is a chance that she won’t find a Hatchimal under the Christmas tree. And, of course there is a perfectly reasonable explanation! Eggs must be laid by mommy birds and they are having a hard time keeping up with the demand.

I’ll keep looking for a normally priced Hatchimal before Christmas. But even if I don’t find one, I don’t have to dread Christmas morning. The company that makes the Hatchimal has said that there will be plenty of stock come January, so even if I have to wait and buy one then it will be okay.

And, it even makes me smile to imagine my daughter’s face one morning in January when she wakes up to realize that Santa was in our house again that night. We save $250 and the magic of Christmas is preserved. Win/Win.

So, here is that free printable letter you are welcome to have Santa send to your child too. I’d recommend sending it a few weeks before Christmas so your child has plenty of warning and so that you aren’t tempted to drop $200 for one on Amazon. Seriously, how do these people live with themselves selling them for THIS MUCH?!

Just click on the images to print your own.

I hope you have a fantastic Christmas!

xoxo, Tiffany

Heads up, there is a typo in paragraph #2, keeping up was compounded into one word “keeping up”, if your kids are like mine they will notice! Otherwise Great idea!

Watch the Target app (not the website) in the mornings before the store opens. They will up date if they have any in stock from the over night shift. I got 2 for my twins a couple of weeks ago. There were 4 of us waiting for the store to open.

I’ve heard they won’t have many available, even on Black Friday. But if you decide to brave the crowds, good luck! 🙂

For those of you who do not have on yet. Here is an option to pay face value.
So just writing you in case you have not found one. I don’t have an extra, but I will give you a suggestion. I got my two at Walmart tonight (25th at 9:00pm). No standing outside for hours, no waiting in line. I just went there and picked two of them up. There were about 8 and I could have grabbed all of them. Here is how I did this.

Most all Walmarts get their truck into the store around 2:00 in the aftenoon. However, they don’t put the items on the floor. Around 9:00-10:0 (depending on the store) they start rolling out on pallets all the items that the night shift will be putting up on the shelf.

You can go to the store and go to the toy section. You will see everything boxed. The hatchimals are two to a box,and the box is marked with “don’t put on shelf” (yellow I think).

I just did this tonight at Walmart and walked in and walked out. If you get this and live near a 24 hour Walmart,, you could make the drive over there and see. Not sure if it will be too late. It depends on how fast they get up on the shelf.

    HOpe this helps.
